GIANTS HIT CASTLEFORD FOR 50 | MATCH REPORT

Huddersfield Giants put on a show at the Jungle, as they ran in 50 points to secure a 8-50 win over the Castleford Tigers.

Ian Watson brought captain Luke Yates back into the fold for the crucial clash vs the Tigers, with Sam Halsall also returning in place of Elliot Wallis, who wasn’t risked with a minor injury.

It didn’t take the Giants long to open the scoring, as a superb defensive effort from Chris Hill forced an error on Slyvester Namo, we attacked, and Adam Swift was sent over in the corner.

Another try came soon after in a blistering first half for Huddersfield, with Adam Clune showing some exceptional skill, taking on the entire Cas line and chipping over the top to regather and score.

Innes Senior, currently on-loan from the Giants got one back, powering over but it was only to be a mere single score in a first half that the Giants dominated.

Back in the team, and back on the scoresheet, Sam Halsall acrobatically finished past Innes Senior to open his account for 2024 after another flowing move on the visitor’s line.

It looked like the Giants would ease the half out, but after failing to find touch with a penalty, Castleford knocked-on on our line, Luke Hooley dropping a high Jake Connor bomb who had a great first half, a try would follow.

On the hooter, Huge Salabio raced across the line and fed Sam Hewitt in, who powered through a broken Tigers defence to leave the Giants 4-24 up at the break, a well needed dominant first half.

Early in the second half, the Tigers would strike again, through loanee Giant Innes Senior, but that was to be their last score of the game.

From that point on, we never looked back, as we regained our momentum and Leroy Cudjoe, who had moved out wide to accommodate for the loss of Jack Murchie who had suffered a cut, powered over to open his account.

The Giants, in ruthless form, didn’t stop there, as Adam Swift then crossed for 500 Career Points, a fantastic achievement for one of the games greats.

Sam Halsall was the beneficiary of great work from Jake Connor, the latter firing a pass out wide for the wingman to score his second of the evening, the Giants pulling away in sensational fashion now, the score at 8-40.

There was time for two more before the final hooter, Leroy Cudjoe showing that age is just a number and keeping up his performance by scoring a second underneath the posts, before Tui Lolohea sent Kevin Naiqama in for a try on his 250th Career Appearance.

A lovely moment from the Tongan International, who could have scored himself, but unselfishly allowed Kev to round off a great evening for himself and the team.
